April Showers

Spring 2024 Eastern Garter Snake ( Thamnophis sirtalis sirtalis ) Marlborough Forest, Ontario, Canada. So far it has been a very wet April limiting the hiking in the woods due to rain and flooding of the paths. Here's hoping that the showers bring the May flowers. The outings I did manage to get out has been filled with chorus of the frogs the odd butterfly here and there and the snakes slithering their ways through the undergrowth in search of food. Chipmunks can be seen waking up from hibernation and scampering around the woods. Eastern Chipmunk ( Tamias striatus ) Beaver Trail, Ottawa, Canada. May starts next week and here is hoping for sunnier days, the puddles will be deep and the mosquitoes will probably be making their presences known with the familiar buzz that accompanies their decent onto the hikers of spring.
