Visit to the Carp Barrens

Image
Wonderful Wetlands Just West of the City Harlequin Corydalis/Rock Harlequin ( Capnoides sempervirens ) Carp Barrens Trail, Ontario, Canada. With an intense rainfall it was any wonder that I would get any photos at all. But it subsided within a half hour & I was able to enjoy the beauty of the wetlands embedded in the rocks of the Carp Barrens . It was wonderful seeing all the Rock Harlequins bringing colour to the Barrens not seen since my trip to Algonquin Provincial Park last year. The presence of frogs along the rocky shorelines of the Barrens was also a nice surprise seeing that I haven't come across many amphibians this year. All in all it was a great adventure to the Barrens even with the heavy rainfall. The rock climber, Northern Green Frog ( Lithobates clamitans melanota ) Carp Barrens Trail, Ontario, Canada. In the Woods of Québec

End of Summer Jaunt in the Forest Northern Leopard Frog ( Lithobates pipiens ) found surprisingly far from waters edge & alone in the woods of Alleyn-et-Cawood, Québec , Canada. The Flora & Fauna are getting harder to find in the woods & forests of Québec . Which was once bountiful & abundant with creatures & botany now seems very quiet. The search for nature is ever becoming an arduous task with very little results & discoveries. Where has Mother Nature gone with all her beautiful creations ? A Trip to the Mer Bleue

Always a Great Visit to the Bog Broad-Leaved Arrowhead/Wapato ( Sagittaria latifolia ) Dewberry Trail, Mer Bleue Conservation Area , Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Ramsar site no. 755. Spent the day hiking the Northern Ridge of the Mer Blue Bog & almost got lost on a trail that brought me to the marsh's edge deep in the woods. Here I found the Wapato in full bloom but couldn't find a way to get around the water finally of the trail. Prior to getting to the Bog I came across a number of Monarch Butterflies at the flowers that were at the edge of farmer's fields. There were quite a number of Monarchs fluttering & feeding on the Milkweed plants that were in open fields along the trail. Monarch Butterfly ( Danaus plexippus ) on the Prescott-Russell Recreational Trail, Ontario, Canada. Conservation Status: imperiled (S2N,S4B) in Ontario, CA (NatureServe). I always enjoy my visits to the Mer Bleue it is one of my most cherished places to visit in Ottawa and it is the
