A Whole Colony of Mushrooms

Image
Golden Trumpets Fungi Spruce stump was cover in Golden Trumpets  ( Xeromphalina campanella ) Alleyn-et-Cawood, Québec, Canada. Largest colony I have ever come across out there in the wild. Almost eighty per cent of the stump is coated with the beautiful trumpets. This was one of my favourite spottings to come across for a fungi. So many mushrooms and just one stump.

Tis the Season

For Nuthatches My first publish in Canadian Geographic Magazine Venturing out in the cold of the season and finding Nuthatches galore. These friendly little birds are a sheer delight to come across while out and about.  They get their common name from their habit of jamming large nuts and acorns into tree bark, then whacking them with their sharp bill to “hatch” out the seed from the inside. Here in Ontario, Canada we find the Monarch to with the  Conservation Status: imperiled (S2N,S4B) in Ontario, CA (NatureServe). Which is more worrisome for the poor species. These beautiful butterflies migrate from here in Canada all the way to Mexico and they used to be seen all over Canada doing their thing on Milkweed plants each year. Now we are lucky if we just see one for the year.    My only photo capture of a Monarch this year in Ontario 2023. The once numerous encounters with this insect are now gone, I count myself as extremely lucky if I get

Finding my Photos :  It is getting harder and harder to find those critters out there. Each year the discoveries dwindle as I fear that the great extinction is growing even here in the wilds of Canada. For my photography I have been very fortunate to develop new links for promotion :  Potfolio  &  Purchasing It's not easy being green
